EUREKA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just realized that I am 32 years old and for the first time in my life I purchased a vacuum! How does one go 32 years without buying a vacuum exactly?? I've always had a vacuum. I've always had clean floors. I personally have just never gone to a store, picked out a vacuum and paid with my own money for it. In college, when I lived in the residence halls, I just used the office vacuum. Then when I got an apartment, my roommate had a vacuum. When I graduated from college and got my own place, I'm sure that mom and I found one at a garage sale (that I'm sure she paid for). And then when Jonathan and I got married, the sweet women who hosted my bridal shower spent a TON of money on a Phantom vacuum for us. At the time, I thought that was the best vacuum EVER! And I still thought that...even when it died a few weeks ago...until I used a friend's Eureka. Now I don't think it was necessarily the brand of vacuum that made me realize how horrible my Phantom is. I think it was the fact that it WORKED so well. That made me realize just how horrible my old vacuum has been. Anyway.......................enough of vacuums! I have a new one. I picked it out. I paid for it. I put the big box in my car. And I put it together! How exciting! (I know...it's funny what will excite me these days!) Posted by Picasa

Patrick and I bought a new vacuum last year for Christmas and I was SHOCKED at how much junk it sucked up on it's first run. I always thought my former vacuum worked fine (I inherited it from my folks, and it had been a wedding present for THEM over 30 years ago!!!). I'm glad that your vacuum sucks! :-)

What does "Eureka" mean?

"I have found it"!

In this case, you found a lot of dirt! Ha ha ha

I had no idea, Kelly! Thanks for the vocabulary lesson. I'm going to add this word do my everyday language. Here's an example: My sanity - Eureka! OR The missing white sock - Eureka! OR My keys - Eureka! :-)

I must say I'm a bit jealous of your new vacuum...we don't have much area that needs to be sucked clean, but that one rug in the family room is a bear to sweep. Anyway, I don't know if I'm happier that you got a new vacuum or that you finally posted a new blog! :) We miss you guys and can't wait to see you on Wednesday!

We are very glad that you have a new vacuum. I am so sorry that I as your Dad, could not fix the old one. Nic, you're right , the Phantom was a piece of junk. Especially, when there was no apparant way to get the machine open to work on it. Of course, I am the original " Mister Fixit ".
Ha !!!!

Love Dad

Yea! Makes you feel as good as a good rocket launch, right? There's nothing in the world like a good vacuum cleaner that works! Steve has our 20's something vac and it needs some help. Not a priority unless you have a little one on hands and knees "mopping up" the floor. Hope it lasts a good long while for you.
